Not sure whether to treat yourself to a new pair of stirrups? Let us tell you why we think the Flex-ons are one of the best.
Comfort
Designed between a showjumper and an engineer (Carolie & Laurent Bordea), Flex-on set about creating a solution for the sore knees and ankles experienced by many riders.
All Flex-on stirrups are based on three fundamentals – all intended to enhance rider comfort and support:
Shock absorption – to maximise comfort and reduce pressure on the rider’s joints
Stirrup positioning – to ensure the stirrup hangs correctly and reduce tension in the ankle
Stirrup ergonomics – to optimise each point of support, reduce fatigue and enhance precision
Style
Not only do Flex-on stirrups perform brilliantly they also look great. We love how customisable they are! Not only can you choose the colour of the frame, the footbed and the shock absorbing elastomers, there are also lots (and lots!) of different magnet choices so you can change the look of your stirrups anytime you want.
When you’re choosing your perfect pair you’ll also have the chance to pick your ideal footbed. Whether you’ll prefer a flat or inclined footbed and what kind of tread – normal or ultra grip.

- What’s the most popular footbed style?
- By a long way, the inclined footbed with ultra-grip.
What’s the difference between standard grip and ultra-grip?
- The standard grip is slightly raised and the ultra-grip have tiny little metal spikes that grip the sole of your boots.
If I fall off in my Safe-ons can I use them again?
- Yes you can! The safety ‘arm’ or ‘branch’ will normally come away at the bottom of the stirrup. Before you get back on you simply push the arm back onto the metal ‘stopper’ that usually keeps it in place. Very occasionally the whole arm may pop out (if you’ve had a particularly heavy fall)
I love my Flex-ons but I’d like to give them a makeover. What can I change?
- The easiest thing to change is the magnets (magnetic stickers) that sit around the stirrup slot. We keep lots and lots in stock for both the Green Composite and the Safe-Ons. The video on our YouTube channel explains how to change the magnets.
- You can’t change your elastomers or footbed colour although you can get replacement grips for your footbeds.
- If you’re riding in Safe-Ons you can also change the release arm colour. Just swap your existing ones for something different to completely update your look. Watch the video on our YouTube channel to see how to change the arms.
