Fairfax started to receive repeated requests for a more ‘feminine’ version of the Gareth Monoflap saddle, so they asked renowned producer of young dressage horses and equestrian style icon Rebecca Hughes to add some luxurious design touches.

The Rebecca Monoflap benefits from all the features common to every saddle in the Performance range as well as the following features:

  • discreet snakeskin print on the cantle and stirrup loop adds enough glamour to turn heads while still oozing style;
  • grey stitching on the flaps and welting on the seat brings a touch of class and elegance;
  • the seat is more ‘forward’ in order to precisely align the rider more ‘in’ over the horse’s centre of balance, allowing the rider to feel a greater connection with their horse without restricting the ability to give the subtle aids or adjustments;
  • the unique design and placement of the billets gives the saddle fitter two adjustment options to fine-tune the fit to the horse’s shape and movement;
  • three thicknesses of adjustable shoulder blocks allow the rider to sit squarely on a horse with asymmetrical shoulders while allowing the horse to move freely underneath, building up muscle without restriction. Simply use the thicker block on the side with less muscle.
  • a recess in the flap allows the riders’ upper leg to form a closer contact with the horse’s side without any uncomfortable rubbing; and
  • surface mounted thigh blocks give the rider enhanced support without restricting their position.

The Fairfax Rebecca is available with longer or shorter custom flap options, depending on your leg length

This saddle was designed and tested using pressure mapping and gait analysis.

Buying a Saddle from RB Equestrian

When it comes to saddle fitting we at RB Equestrian strive to ensure the very best quality, in both the products we sell and the service we provide to all our customers. Our team of saddle fitters are all highly qualified in their field, and all registered as qualified saddle fitters with the Society of Master Saddlers. 

Our saddle fitting service covers:

  • Fitting and sale of new saddles
  • Checking and adjustments of existing saddles
  • Saddlery repair

Please note that we do not supply or trade in second hand saddles.

1.     What do you charge?

You come to us*

checking/fitting the first saddle to a horse: £50 (if the horse has been seen before: £30)
additional saddle on the same horse: £20.

mileage charge for the round trip of £1 per mile 
checking/fitting the first saddle to a horse: £70 (if the horse has been seen before: £40)
additional saddle on the same horse: £20.
 
*A £30 deposit is required when making a booking – this is refundable if at least 48 hours’ notice of cancellation is given.

2.     How do I make an appointment?

Give us a call (01908 365 335), email us at fitsaddle@rbequestrian.co.uk or call in-store. We will make sure you speak to one of our saddle fitters who will discuss your requirements in detail and help you consider your options before you even make an appointment.

3.     How long will a saddle fit/check take?

You should assume that any fit or check will take at least 1 hour. In some cases it may take significantly longer than this.

4.     What facilities do I need for you to fit or check a saddle?

  • We need a clean & dry horse in the first instance. It is helpful if you can make sure your horse is ready at the agreed appointment time.
  • Ideally you will have a flat, level area where our saddle fitter can see the horse being worked in hand.
  • An arena (or the sheer heaven that is an indoor school) make seeing a horse working in a saddle much easier. If you don't have access to either then a flat, level grassy area will normally be sufficient or you may want to consider bringing your horse to us.

5.     I don't know if I need a new saddle or just my existing one adjusting. How do I know you're not just going to persuade me to buy a new saddle in any event?

Because we know that the quickest way to lose customers is to make them unhappy. Our saddle fitters do not work on commission - so it makes no difference to them whether they sell a saddle or not - and they are professionals. Their job is to do the best for you, on the day, and if your existing saddle can be made to fit - they'll tell you.

6.     How long do I normally have to wait for an appointment?

This can vary massively but as a general rule we are booking Saturday appointments up to two months in advance. Frequently you can get a mid-week appointment within 7 days if you're flexible. If you think you'd like an appointment give us a call as soon as possible.

7.     I've had a saddle fitted by someone else and I'd like a second opinion. Can you help?

Maybe. If your saddle has been fitted or checked by another qualified saddle fitter in the last six months you should refer any issues you are having back to them. If you still need some help then be aware that we will need to obtain the original fitting sheets from that saddle fitter and probably speak to them about your horse before we see them.

8.     I really value my trainers/vets/back persons/friends advice and they think I've got a problem with my saddle - what shall I do?

We are happy to work alongside other equestrian professionals to ensure both you and your horse are able to perform as well as possible. Don't forget though that you're paying us to give you a professional opinion so if you'd like anyone else to be involved in the saddle fitting process we would strongly suggest that you arrange for them to be available at the time of your appointment so that we can get them involved at the earliest possible opportunity.

9.     How often should I have my saddle checked?

A newly fitted saddle should be checked within 12 weeks of fitting (or as per your saddle fitter's advice). After that, every 6 months or whenever there is a significant change to the shape of your horse. Check regularly with a weigh tape to monitor your horse's condition, and if there is a change of 5cm up or down you should have your saddle refitted.

10.   Can you repair my saddle?

We are proper saddlers and can repair and make all kinds of leatherwork (including saddles). Please give us a call or pop in and we can assess your item for repair.

    Free UK Delivery

    UK Delivery

    We offer free delivery for orders over £50 within much of Great Britain.

    All orders within most of Great Britain that are £50 and under are charged at £5.99.

    Provided the goods you have ordered are in stock and we receive your order by 12 noon on a business day (ie Monday to Friday), we aim to dispatch them the same day. For orders received after 12 noon on a business day or at the weekend we aim to send them the next business day (provided we have the items in stock). Occasionally this may be longer if we require security authorisation from your payment provider or at particularly busy times.

    If there is a delay in dispatching your order we will contact you, by email, as soon as reasonably practicable.

    Except in cases where such a method is unavailable we send all of your orders using an express service. While we cannot guarantee delivery with a certain period of time, typically deliveries to the UK take 2 working days. 

    Deliveries Outside of the UK

    You will be required to sign for your delivery on arrival. Our freight forwarders normally deliver between 9am and 6pm so you may wish to have your products delivered to your place of work if you are not usually at home during those times.

    Deliveries to Europe

    Our products are sold with UK VAT (value added tax), where applicable, to customers located in the EU.  UK VAT will be removed from all products (where applicable) that are sold to customers located outside of the UK. 

    Deliveries to mainland Europe are sent on a super quick delivery service and take 2 to 5 business days.

    Deliveries to the US, Canada, Australia and the rest of the world

    We deliver to these countries via an express delivery service. Deliveries to:

    • US & Canada typically take 2 to 5 business days
    • Australia & New Zealand typically take 5 to 7 business days
    • Rest of the World typically take 7 to 14 business days

    Delivery costs are dependent on size and weight of the item. If you would like to place an order with us and you live outside of Europe please contact us by email at service@rbequestrian.co.uk or by phone on +44 (0) 1908 365 335 for a quote for the delivery costs.

    PLEASE NOTE: where you are located outside of the EU you will be responsible for any duties and taxes payable on your order on arrival in your delivery country.  Because customs policies vary between countries we cannot predict what these charges may be, nor do we have any control over them.  If you would like to know what your liability may be we recommend you contact the relevant tax authorities in your delivery country before you place an order with us.  Please be aware that delays at customs are outside of our control and may affect the time in which it takes your order to arrive with you.

    Order online and pay in-store.  We’ll call you (or email if we can’t get through) when your package is ready for collection, meaning you can pop in at a time that’s convenient for you!

    Hassle Free Returns

    How do I return goods to you for an exchange?

    If you are in the UK

    You have 14 days to tell us (by phone or email) that you wish to return the goods and a further 14 days in which to return them to us. Please return the goods to us in a clean, dry and unused state with all original packaging and labelling. You are responsible for any cost of postage incurred in returning the goods. You are also responsible for the goods while they are in transit to us so please ensure that they are packaged securely. You should obtain proof of posting. On receipt of the goods we will arrange for the exchange to be sent out to you as soon as possible. We will provide one exchange with no charge for postage for sending the replacement goods. 

    If you are outside of the UK

    You have 14 days to tell us (by phone or email) that you wish to return the goods and a further 14 days in which to return them to us. Please return the goods to us in a clean, dry and unused state with all original packaging and labelling. Please enclose a completed ‘Returns/Exchange Form’ (found at the bottom of this page). You are responsible for any cost of postage incurred in returning the goods. You are also responsible for the goods while they are in transit to us so please ensure that they are packaged securely. You should obtain proof of posting.

    You must ensure any package is clearly marked 'Goods Returned to Vendor'.

     

    How do I return goods to you for a refund?

    You have 14 days to tell us (by phone or email) that you wish to return the goods and a further 14 days in which to return them to us. Please return the goods to us in a clean, dry and unused state with all original packaging and labelling. You are responsible for any cost of postage incurred for returning the goods. You are also responsible for the goods while they are in transit to us so please ensure that they are packaged securely. You should obtain proof of posting. On receipt of the product(s) we will refund the cost of the goods to the credit/debit card/PayPal account by which the original payment was made. 

    You must ensure any package is clearly marked 'Goods Returned to Vendor'.

    Provided the goods are in an as new condition we will refund the cost of the goods onto the card/PayPal which you used to make the original payment.  We will process the refund as soon as possible after receipt of the goods.  In our experience refunds can take up to 21 days to be shown on your card/PayPal account.

    We are not able to accept special order items, DVDs, CDs, computer software, books or underwear for refund or exchange unless they are faulty.

     

    What if my goods are faulty or you've sent me the incorrect product?

    If we've sent you the incorrect product then sorry!  Please contact us at your earliest possible convenience and we will arrange for the correct product to be sent out to you.  We will refund your reasonable postage costs to return the original product to us.

    Thankfully manufacturing faults are rare and we would expect these to become apparent shortly after the product is used for the first time.  There is an assumption that products purchased more than 6 months ago that have developed damage are unlikely to be faulty.  Please contact us as soon as you think your product may have developed a fault as we may be able to deal with it without having the product returned to us.  Please email us at service@rbequestrian.co.uk with full details and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

     

    Health and Hygiene

    In accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 we can only accept items returned to us for inspection if they are clean and dry.

    Pre-Order

    With Pre-Order, you can purchase the latest items added to our store in advance of them arriving with us.

    You Pre-Order is prioritised (at no additional charge); meaning that, as soon as the product arrives with us, we can wrap it straight back up and get it sent out to you - it often never even hits the stock room shelves!

    With Pre-Launch, the date when we expect to receive the product ourselves is still a little too hazy to be confident in accepting Pre-Orders.
