Developed, designed and handmade in the UK, this is the first bridle created from scientific research. Proven to reduce pressure by up to 84%, reduce force by up to 77%, allow greater forelimb extension and increase knee and hock flexion.

Based on two years of scientific research, this bridle significantly relieves peak pressure in the six key pressure zones around the head, articulating and moving in harmony with the horse's head during the stride.

Developed, designed and handmade in the UK. The first bridle to be based on scientific research and proven to:

    • Reduce pressure by up to 84%
    • Reduce force by up to 77%
    • Allows greater forelimb extension
    • Increase knee & hock flexion
    Features
    • Carefully thought-out features reduce pressure in 6 key zones
    • Articulation rings on the noseband improve stability on the horse's head, allowing it to move with the horse, without causing restriction
    • Improved bridle stability enhances the horse's comfort
    • Symmetrical design with buckles both sides
    • Browband and noseband are interchangeable with others from the Fairfax range
    • Approved for use in FEI competitions including all three eventing phases
    • Double headpiece can also be used as a snaffle

The Fairfax Performance Bridle is the ultimate choice if you want:

    • Backed-by-science designs that improve movement and comfort
    • A stable, articulated fit that cushions sensitive pressure zones
    • Academic credibility—research presented at BEVA congress & published in peer‑review journals
    • Superior craftsmanship, FEI-ready design, and stylish finish

How to care for your leather:

    • Once you’re sure you’re keeping your purchase you should treat it with a leather conditioner. Our RB favourite is theRapide Leathergel.
    • After every use you should remove all sweat and dirt using a damp cloth to help preserve the leather and minimise the chance of these causing friction on your horse’s hair.
    • Make sure it dries naturally (don’t use any heat sources as they can cause the leather to dry out and crack).
    • We would recommend that you regularly apply a leather conditioner to your product. We always suggest that you rub it in with a dry, soft cloth – similar to the way you’d apply moisturiser to your own skin. And make sure you don’t miss any ends or fiddly bits.
    • How often is regularly? There’s no harm in treating your tack every time you use it but use any conditioner sparingly. Otherwise make sure you do so every two or three times you use your tack and definitely do so if it’s got very wet or muddy during a ride.
    • While you’re cleaning or conditioning your tack make sure you check for any loose stitching or wobbly buckles; cracking or distortion.
    • Do not use spray soap and avoid glycerine or oil-based products.
    Technical Information
    Sizing Information

Getting the right fit is essential for comfort and performance. Here's how to measure for your Fairfax bridle:

    What You’ll Need:

    • A soft tape measure (or use your current bridle as a guide)
    • Your horse standing still, relaxed and wearing a headcollar

    What to Measure:

    1. Headpiece – From bit ring, over the poll, to the other bit ring
    2. Browband – From one side of the horse’s face to the other, following the natural brow line
    3. Cheekpieces – From bit ring up to where the headpiece splits
    4. Noseband – Around the nose (just under the cheekbones), and over the top of the head if it’s a crank
    5. Throatlash – Under the throat, with two fingers’ width of space

    Top Tips:

    • Choose Standard headpiece for most horses
    • Choose Stallion headpiece for wide polls or if your horse dislikes pressure near the ears
    • Fairfax bridles come with adjustable cheekpieces and multiple size options for each part

    Before finalising your size:

    • Browband sits midway between the horse’s ear and eye bone
    • One-finger clearance under browband at ear level
    • Buckles on cheekpieces, noseband & throatlash level and parallel
    • Noseband straps run parallel with cheekbones and clear bones beneath
