We want you to be happy with any item you buy from us. The information below sets out how to return an item, what it costs and how quickly you will be repaid.

Please note: where you have bought a product as part of a promotional offer, any free gifts must be returned with the purchased items to obtain a full refund. If free gifts are not returned, the full price of that gift will be deducted from your refund.

How long do I have to return my goods?

You have 60 days from the date of delivery to return them to us.

I want to return my goods for an exchange or a refund.

Please:

i) complete the returns form (either enclosed with your item or download the form using the link at the top of the page) telling us what you want to exchange it for;
ii) return the goods to us in a clean, dry and unused state with all original packaging and labelling; and
iii) do not fix labels or mark the original packaging of the goods otherwise we cannot resell it.

We can send you a returns label for you to send the item from a Post Office but there is a charge of:
• £3.99 if your item weighs less than 2kg and is less than 61cm wide and 46cm deep and 46cm wide;
• £8.99 if your item weighs more than 2kg or is larger than the dimensions described above.

Please request your returns label by email to [email protected]. If you do not use either of these services, then you are responsible for the full cost of the returns.

My item was faulty and I want to return it?

Thankfully manufacturing faults are rare and we would expect these to become apparent shortly after the product is used for the first time. There is an assumption that products purchased more than 6 months ago that have developed damage are unlikely to be faulty.

Please contact us as soon as you think your product may have developed a fault as we may be able to deal with it without having the product returned to us. Please email us at [email protected] with full details and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Please note that in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 we can only accept items returned to us for inspection if they are clean and dry, even if they are faulty.

How and when will I be refunded?

Provided the goods are in an as new condition we will refund the cost of the goods (less any relevant shipping charge) onto the card/PayPal which you used to make the original payment.

We will process the refund as soon as possible after receipt of the goods, normally by the next working day. Please be aware this can a few days to be shown on your card/PayPal account.

What can’t I return?

We are not able to accept special order items, DVDs, CDs, computer software, books or underwear for refund or exchange unless they are faulty.

Turnout Rug Care
  • Check and clean straps, fittings and stitching regularly
  • Keep rugs in a dry and airy place when not in use to prevent them going mouldy
  • Rugs will need reproofing from time to time to maintain their weather resistance
  • Wash rugs at 30°C with a mild, non-biological soap and leave to line or drip dry - do NOT tumble dry or dry clean
  • NB: hand washing will prolong the life of the rug's waterproof coating

Turnout Rug Guide
  • Rugs are designed to rip when they get caught to prevent the horse from getting injured. No rug is guaranteed not to rip or tear if it gets caught.
  • The higher the denier of the rug outer fabric, the tougher the rug will be (1200 denier or higher is stronger, whilst 600 denier is everyday strength)
  • Typically it is the quality of the outer fabric that determines the price of a rug, not the weight.
  • Rugs contain 'fill' which determines how warm they are. Lightweight rugs range from 0g to 50g. Mediumweight rugs from 100gm to 250gm and heavyweight rugs anything more than this.
  • Ripstop material is designed to contain any rips or tears should then happen. It will not stop barbed wire tears.
  • Lightweight (0g) turnout rugs are only water resistant. They can withstand short downpours but not torrential rain - especially when the rug is a few years old. A very light fill rug (40-80g) may be more appropriate than a true lightweight as they can help keep your horse dry without getting warm and be more waterproof.

Buying the right size of rug

When buying any rug for your horse to wear, fit is key, and should never be underestimated. If you’ve bought the most amazing rug with a whole range of features it could potentially cause more harm than good if it is ill fitting.

The good news is that it is not hard to achieve a good fit - here are our top tips:

Measure your horse before you shop. This can be done with a tape measure. Simply put one end of the tape in the centre of your horse’s chest and the other end on the horse's buttocks where you would expect the rug to finish.

Horse rugs are sized in centimetres, inches or feet and inches- make sure you check what size rug you are getting as a 66" will not fit a 6'6" horse.

When you've bought the rug, take it home and try it on your horse over a clean bedsheet or clean summer sheet- make sure you leave all the tags on. If the rug fits then remove the tags and use, if not, you might be able to return the rug to the retail outlet you purchased it from as long as it is in a saleable condition- check with your retailer at the time you purchase the rug.

A badly fitting rug will slip and could cause discomfort or even injury for the horse, and could result in damage to the rug itself.

How can I tell if the rug fits?

The rug should fit well over the withers and the shoulders so that the horse can move freely without the rug slipping back.

The straps should be tight enough to hold the rug in place, but not so tight that they cause the rug’s shape to distort on the horse’s back. If too tight they may cause pressure points around the horse’s chest and wither area.

Cross surcingles should be fastened so you can fit a hand’s breadth between the surcingles and the horse’s body. This means that the straps are tight enough to prevent legs becoming caught should the horse lie down, but not so tight to cause discomfort.

If the rug has leg straps, they should be fastened so that the left strap is passed around the left hind leg and fastened back to the left side. The right strap should then pass around the right hind leg, loop through the left strap, and then fasten to the right side. There should be about 4-5” between the strap and the horse’s leg to prevent the rug slipping without causing the horse any discomfort.
