Introducing the latest addition to the Samshield Carbon Fibre range – the XJ Dark Line Edition Helmet. Designed for serious riders who expect the very best in safety, comfort and style, it’s available in a sleek matte or gloss black finish with a matching matte trim.
Certified to ASTM 1163 SEI, PAS015 and VG1 standards, the XJ offers outstanding protection without compromise. Its outer shell is crafted from pure carbon fibre for exceptional strength with minimal weight, while the inner shell uses variable-density polystyrene to absorb and disperse impact energy effectively.
Two discreet front air inlets draw in cool air, circulating it through the liner and out the rear extractors to keep you fresh without the need for bulky vents. The result? Superb airflow and minimal sweating, even during intense rides.
Inside, the memory foam liner provides lasting comfort and a consistent fit. It’s removable, washable at 30°C and designed to maintain its shape over time. A semi-rigid strap ensures the helmet stays securely in place, giving you complete confidence every ride.

Frequently Asked Questions
If you or your child have recently taken up horse riding and you plan to do it regularly it may be a good idea to have your own hat. While you can borrow a hat at most riding centres, having your own professionally fitted means you can: have one that’s comfortable and secure; know if the hat has had any knocks or bumps and whether it’ll still offer you optimum protection; and you can keep it clean and hygienic. If your riding hat receives any kind of impact. This is the biggy. Because we can’t see if there’s any damage to the protective layers inside your hat, we don’t know when they’ve been compromised. Here are some of the real-life examples we’ve had (this is NOT an exhaustive list!): a fall from your horse where you’ve hit your head; the horse accidentally smacking your head with theirs; the horse kicking you in the head; running over your hat with your car; knocking your hat off the stable door onto the concrete floor; hitting your head falling off your friend’s back doing piggyback races; absolutely ANY time you have any kind of concussion/head injury when you’ve been wearing your hat. Even if your hat hasn’t received any kind of impact or has been barely used, five years from the day you first wear it is the maximum recommended time you should keep it. After manufacture the component parts of your hat will start to degrade naturally and this will be massively accelerated by all the things that will seep into the lining as you wear it. Sweat, make-up, moisturiser, shampoo residue, hair product etc. will all ultimately mean your riding hat becomes less durable. If you wear your hat everyday you’ll probably want to think about replacing it much sooner than five years. For more information, read our blog on when you should change your riding hat.Having your riding hat properly fitted is essential for both safety and comfort. A hat that is poorly fitted won’t properly protect your head and could also cause injury or discomfort by moving. Here at RB Equestrian, we offer hat fittings in store and we are passionate that our customers have properly fitting hats. Not only will we take the time to make sure you find a hat that fits you well and suits your needs we will also happily check your hat fit for free as many times as you wish!
