Frequently Asked Questions
A grooming kit, hoof pick, hoof oil or balm, first aid supplies, fly protection and a shampoo or spray are all useful everyday essentials. Not always. Some horses benefit from targeted nutritional support depending on workload, age and health. If you're unsure, our team is happy to help point you in the right direction. However, we always recommend speaking to your vet first before trying a new supplement. Regular grooming helps keep the coat healthy, improves circulation and gives you the opportunity to spot cuts, swelling or changes before they become bigger problems. Self adhesive bandage, duct tape, dressings, antiseptic solution, wound cream, gloves, scissors, a thermometer and cooling products are all useful items to keep close to hand. Combining a fly spray, fly mask and, where appropriate, a fly rug offers the best protection during the summer months. Horses prone to sweet itch may need more specialist protection during peak midge season.
